PROJECTS

I was involved at national, European and international levels.

EDIDP USSPs

USSPs will develop a highly autonomous, energy efficient unmanned platform prototype, based on miniaturized oil platform technologies and with a wide range of aerial, surface and submarine sensors. It can be deployed in any geographical area, including deep water, and in adverse environmental conditions, so it will be very versatile in operation. The goal of the initiative is to integrate the necessary systems and assets through innovative solutions to enhance maritime surveillance capabilities, reduce resource utilization and mission costs, and provide persistent and ongoing maritime situational awareness across all scopes.
The EU is contributing 19.5 million Euros to the project, which will cover study, design, system prototyping and testing over 42 months. A total of 15 European companies participate in USSPs, coming from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Spain, France, Greece, Ireland and the Netherlands, coordinated by the Greek ETME.

EDIDP DECISMAR

The objective of the DECISMAR project is to develop a decision support toolbox (DSTx), implemented as a cyber-secured and future-proofed integrated IT environment. The DSTx will provide a dynamic and interactive approach for conducting feasibility studies which aim to support the upgrade of maritime surveillance under the scope of both current and future defined High-Level Operational Requirements (HLORs) of the PESCO Project Upgrade of Maritime Surveillance.
The EU is contributing 7.5 million Euros to the project (out of a total cost of 7.8 million Euros), which will cover study, design, system prototyping and testing over 42 months. Twelve companies from seven countries are participating : Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Spain.

IP-Crete Hyperion Drone 2020

Hyperion project aims to develop software and hardware for the remote surveillance, maintenance and optimization of the operation of photovoltaic installations. During this project, a drone will be developed which will be capable to fly autonomously over photovoltaic installations, use proper sensors and algorithms to create a map of the installation and detect potential problems.

INTERREGCPINTERREGV-AGREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 MYCaves

MYCaves is a commercial project aiming at the modernization, promotion and exploitation of caves. Our work regards the design, development and construction of an autonomous mobile robotic tour guide with 33 language support. The robot will be deployed at the Alistratis cave in Serres, Greece.

EU Fet-Proactive Grant (GA:64100) Timestorm

TimeStorm aims at equipping robots with a human-like sense of temporality and the ability to perceive the temporal aspects of the world and conceive the notion of "Time".

EU Fet-Open-4-2016-2017 Grant (GA:754423) Entiment

ENTIMENT aims to assess, deploy and commercialize a novel Temporal Cognition Toolbox (TCT) that greatly facilitates the development of time-aware robots, capable to engage in prolonged, symbiotic interaction with humans.

Honda-Jp research collaboration

This research collaboration between FORTH and HRI-JP aims at developing algorithms for predicting the temporal properties of activities to facilitate human-robot symbiosis and cooperative intelligence.

vipGPU (MIS:5030440)

vipGPU aims at developing very low consumption graphics processor units for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) in Mobile Robots and virtual reality.

KRIPIS (MIS:5002469)

Kripis aims at developing advanced research activities in biomedical and agro alimentary technologies.
